- 1 cup yellow mustard (like French’s)
- 1/2 cup sucanat
- 3/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons margarine (I like Earth Balance)
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke (comes in little bottles… will either be with the spices or the condiments in your grocery store)
Mix everything together in your sauce pan except for the soy sauce, margarine and liquid smoke. Simmer for 30 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes more. This is the barbecue sauce Enkidu of HOLE uses when he smokes elves.
Some people have mentioned that they feel “ork-style” is similar to “Carolina-style”, but I wouldn’t lay that on Carolinians.
